tahoe 2011.

February 22, 2011

i always go into trips with expectations. normally the night before i go anywhere, i play the whole trip in my head, what i think it’s going to be like, who i’ll hang out with, what i’ll do. tahoe went past my expectations. and words can’t describe what a good feeling that is. you probably don’t want to hear about every inside joke, every dance sesh, every sledding ride,  and every slope i went down (just kidding i went down one.) so i won’t go on for pages and pages about that. BUT i will tell you that God worked in crazy insane ways on this trip. he showed himself so clearly. the best way to describe this trip, is an example from which our youth leader told us the first night. i went into this trip, praying for everyone else, except my self. i’m not talking being selfless, but i’m talking overlooking my own problems and trying to help others with theirs. on the first day of the trip, ben, our youth leader, drew a profound connection. have your ears ever been plugged? have they ever been plugged and you don’t know it until the pop? similarly, have you ever know God, then forgotten him, but not realize you’ve forgotten him until he fully reveals himself to you like never before. this is what happened to me this weekend. this trip i realized that i had become plugged towards God, i thought i had it all together, yet i wondered why i couldn’t feel God as much as i used to. i had tried over and over again saying that i wanted to give him everything, my worry, my stress, yet every time i seemed to forget that i needed to give him my actual life. like my view of myself, my relationships with people, and my status in life. and this made the trip so much better than the starbucks earl grey tea’s that i drank, than the sledding runs that i went down, and even the incredibly amazing friendships i was able to strengthen. (which my the way, that was another huge highlight of the trip) i’m so so thankful for the amazing people God put in my life.

just a tad bit excited.

Pure genius is present in these photos. It takes a skilled eye to capture the splendor of Tahoe with such precision. :)
